Preparation

Aftercare

After your treatment, you should avoid applying lip cosmetics for at least 24 hours. Your normal lipsticks may have bacteria on the product that should not be exposed to any open wounds to avoid infections. Some patients who like to wear chapstick may consider using a new lip balm after their treatment to keep lips moist.

You should cleanse your lips with gentle soap and warm water during the first 12 to 24 hours. Some patients like to use cold gel compresses to comfort lips during the first six hours. You may need to avoid eating spicy food or opening your mouth too widely, as both of these activities may irritate the injection area.

Most people will be able to see the results of this treatment within three to seven days after their appointment. It will take a few days for the filler to settle into your lips and for the hyaluronic acid to start interacting with the water in your body.

You may see the best results if you drink an adequate amount of water after your treatment, as this will provide your body with enough hydration that the hyaluronic acid will become more effective.
