Botox treatments are an approved FDA treatment for wrinkles and other facial lines. Although many people know the name, you may not be aware of all the benefits of this treatment. Since 2002, it has been used to restore the youthful appearance of countless people. Come for a one on one consultation to see if this treatment is right for you!
How does Botox work on wrinkles?
When the muscles contract in your face and don’t release; they cause wrinkles. These wrinkles are a natural result of years of smiles and laughing, which is why they are more common as you get older. Botox introduces a mild toxin to these muscles that paralyze them, causing them to release. This, in turn, smooths out your wrinkles. Please note that Botox will not treat wrinkles that have appeared as the result of sun damage or have developed over time due to gravity.
How long does it take to complete a Botox treatment, and what should I expect?
The Botox treatment only takes several minutes to complete. Our provider will use a very fine needle to inject Botox into the treatment area. Before your treatment, your provider will identify which muscles in the face to treat to give you the best results possible. You may feel some discomfort during the procedure, but many patients do not report feeling anything. Please remember, Botox only paralyzes your muscles, it does not numb your face.
You should expect the full effects of the treatment to arrive within seven days. In the two weeks leading up to your treatment, avoid alcohol and other anti-inflammatory medications. This will prevent possible bruising at the injection site. Treatments should last three to four months before wrinkles begin to reappear. These wrinkles will often be less pronounced as your muscles have learned to relax again.
What are the side effects of Botox and who shouldn’t have this treatment?
The most common side effects, if they do occur, are headaches and bruising at the injection site. If the injection site is near your eyes, avoid rubbing the area, so the Botox doesn’t get pushed into other areas. This may cause drooping in your eyelids. Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should avoid a Botox Treatment. A consultation is always required before a treatment session to ensure this treatment is right for you. During this consultation, our provider will review with you your entire medical history, medications, and any other treatments you may be undergoing. We want to ensure there are no issues with you and your Botox Treatment.
Will my insurance pay for a Botox treatment?
Most insurance companies will not pay for a Botox treatment, as it is a cosmetic procedure. We have very competitive pricing at our clinic and have financing available. The amount of Botox treatment will cost depends on the amount that is used, and the areas being treated. When you speak with our providers one on one, they’ll be able to give you a better idea of how much this treatment will cost.
